Few questions & other little things
« on: March 29, 2011, 03:56:48 PM »
Hey,

first great game by Bullfrog, great game by the corsix-th team!

2 little things:

1.)

Is the pregnant patch included (http://www.eudoxus.demon.co.uk/thc/links.htm)

2.)

How can I get the cursor for windows?
I mean the little "injection" (or gun, or nozzle or also called "gun") from the main menu!
If I click, it moves up and down, and I like that :)
I tried to find the .ani or .cur in the THEME HOSPITAL game files and in corsix-th game files.
But I haven't found this cursor for windows :S
Any help how to get this little thing? :D

Greets,

& keep up your work!

Edit: I looked up with AnminViewer.exe, but still didn't find that cursor!!

None of these two are implemented yet.
I'm not sure if the pregnant patch will be added. I think it's mentioned here on the forum.

The gun will be ready when the programmers have the time to do it :)
By the way, you don't need it yet, because there are no rats implemented either ;)

Ah, you misunderstood :S

Okay, I can live without pregnant patch :D

But I mean the mouse-cursor.

This little thing. But in-game of course!

unclear? (I am quite positive that you and Grimdoc are discussing the same cursor).

The question is how to extract the main cursor and use it in Windows as default cursor. As I don't know if it can be converted to a fitting modern format I haven't responded to this thread before...
I'd say the fastest way to do it is to simply take a screenshot and use some freeware that makes .cur files to create the cursor for Windows.
For the end of the world spell, press Control, Alt, Delete.

Ah, now I understand.
It's fairly easy to make a cursor in Windows, but I'm not sure if you can change the mouse cursor so that it changes appearence when you press the mouse button (like in the game).

I got a fairly good result with these easy steps:
1. Download and install IconArt (freeware)
2. Open up CorsixTH, and in the first menu, hold the mouse cursor over one of the buttons (with a steady background color).
3. Take a screenshot of it.
4. Open it up in your favorite image editor (MSPaint, Gimp, Photoshop), anything will do.
5. Cut the image size to 32x32, and save it as a .gif (let the tip of the needle be in the top left corner).
6. Import it to IconArt (File->Import from file...) and just press the OK (enter) button up to the right when you have chosen your image.
7. Now choose the hotspot (button in the middle of the screen), and set it to the needle tip (in position 0,0).
8. Now you can edit the cursor to your liking, and when you are done, save it as a cursor. You can even save it as an animated cursor (if you have several images), but this is a fairly annoying thing to have on your desktop.
9. And last, just get to the control panel and choose the mouse icon, and try to import your new pointer.

I guess you have to edit your new mouse cursor a few times to get it right.
And with my "guide" your mouse pointer will be as big as the original mouse pointer, but if you want to, you could always try to enlarge the image a bit (if you need big cursors).
But then you have to do a lot of pixel work to get it "right".

If you have any questions, just ask.
But I'm not sure I would give you my result mouse cursor, because of TH copyrights (but I made it fairly easy for you to make your own). :)
