The Big Gameplay and Cheating Suggestion Thread
« on: October 17, 2011, 12:57:25 AM »
This thread is a list of gameplay and cheating suggestions compiled by;
- Ideas I have though of myself via natural gameplay.
- Ideas I have found from Google code issues.
- Ideas I have seen other forumers suggest.
- Ideas from comments in this thread.

As game and cheating suggestions develop, they will be edited in accordance to this list. For example, if I see a new ideas not yet on the list, I'll add it - or if someone has a good reason to rule out an idea, I'll mark it as inactive. Only 25% of these ideas a mine, thus 75% are not based on my experiences, nor are the verified. For all I know, the suggestion could of already been implemented, or impossible altogether. I'm just a list maintainer.

I'll try to keep them organized into their sections. Let me know if I should add a tag to any. I've put a lot of time and effort and will continue to do so into this thread. Hope you like it. Here's a quick key of color;

Unverified Ideas; These are ideas are completely new and need a brief review of their potential and possibilities.
New Ideas; These ideas have a lot of potential and are possible, but need discussion and development.
Developing Ideas; These ideas are being developed into an actual feature or are close to being so.
Completed Ideas; These ideas have been created. They either, are, will, or can be implemented.
Inactive Ideas; These ideas have been ruled out for now and may be re-injected at a later date.

You could have done better research on some of them.
Some of these comments are just my opinion.

- Ability to send a user to a selected room from the queue menu.
This is possible now. Just open the queue the person is in and drag him/her to another door (same kind of room).

- Ability to disable a room stopping anyone from queuing at all.
I think this is being worked on.

- Ability to remove the need for heating.
Obsolete cheat if reputation gain is added as a cheat. Plus that you can turn off salary increases for staff already.

- Ability to lock specific green doors to everyone, staff or nobody.
Why?

- Ability to half-cut the walls, or change visibility to improve viewing.
Just press X while in game and they become transparent/opaque.

- Ability to limit time spent in the staff room.
Why would one be able to do this? It would just result in the person need to go back there in a short while.

- Ability to increase reputation by 10%
I agree that this could be a nice cheat. I did make a issue about it earlier.

- Ability to create a patient at the center of the screen view.
This is already in the game.

- Ability to open the cheat menu by pressing C or similar.
This is already in the game. Press F11.

- Ability to disable the morale decreasing individually or as a whole.
This can be controlled by turning off the staff raise in debug menu.

- Ability to disable wage demands.
This is already in the game. Find it in the debug menu.

- Ability to disable tiredness from decreasing for everyone.
Just don't buy a staff room and turn off raises. This will keep them going on forever (some will go mad, but that is just a graphical effect).

- Ability to minimize (make 0) the tiredness of everyone.
Don't see the use of this. You would have to press the cheat button all the time.

- Ability to minimize (make 0) the tiredness individually.
Don't see the use of this. You would have to press the cheat button all the time.

- Ability to maximize attention to detail, skill and morale of everyone.
This will not have any effect, since this is merely words in the description, and doesn't affect the person.

- Ability to create a senior with full skills and statistics of ALL kinds ("super consultant").
I agree that this could be a nice cheat. I did make a issue about it earlier.

- Ability to block off any part of the hospital, keeping the alert message.
This is thought to be added, but it isn't yet, since it creates errors.

- Ability to add custom music to play.
This should be in the game, though I haven't tested it. Read the config.txt.

- Ability to play with other players (multiplayer).
This will be implemented when everything else is finished.

- Ability to make patients divide themselves more intelligently between rooms and reception desks.
This is very good right now. Could maybe be better, but I don't know.

- Ability to make staff take over when staff go to rest, but are swapped when returning ("temp staff").
This would not be very useful, and would be hard to code, since it would require to log whoever was in what room, and when to return etc. instead of what is being done today (everyone is being freed from the room, and get's new tasks when they are removed from the room).

- Ability to have a setting specifically for special staff members to be able to do the above.
See above.

- Ability to drop a doctor or nurse in the room, and replace the existing one.
This is mentioned in a issue.

- Ability to rotate the map view.
This would be hard to do, since all the graphics are made for only one angle.
Redoing this would mean a whole lot of graphical work and maybe much coding.

- Ability to have security staff and crimes.
My opinion is no.

- Ability to have more floors with elevators, stairs or escalators.
My opinion is no.

- Ability to paint the walls and floors any custom color or pattern.
This should be doable, but then the game had to read the color/pattern out from a file, and not from the base of items already in the game.

- Ability to create maps more easily, including deleting mistakes which the current editor lacks.
This would be nice. The ability to undo would make it easier to make maps.

- Ability to have patients dropped off by helicopter, ambulance, or family individuals normally.
I think the helicopter should be used only for emergencies. Adding the other two you mentioned would require new graphics and more coding. I guess it could be added, but then one must think of that the ambulance have to follow the road and make turns etc, which isn't going to work well on some of the roads in the maps.

- Ability to create an outbreak of a specific disease, thus creating a burst of patients.
You can do this, sort of. You can force an emergency with the debug menu, and you can activate "Roujin's challenge cheat" to get a burst of patients.

- Ability to have an accident and emergency department.
I could agree on the accident dept. but not on emergency dept.
This would have to be added when the game is finished I guess, as an add-on (so it doesn't ruin the game for everyone who want's to play the game mostly as it was in the original).

- Ability to have shops, like a real hospital.
See above answer. Not such a bad idea with a snack shop.

- Ability to have the toilets take up 2x2 minimum to take up useless gaps.
What useless gaps? Just place more items? Or what do you mean.

- Ability to have different "wards" and user-defined colors/names for them.
What would these new wards do? Then I guess you need new diseases too?
That could be done, but should be specified. Also see above answer.
PS: Why would you want to change the colors?

- Ability to have more unusual rooms such as a dentists, maternity or opticians.
See above. Would be a fun addition, but should be added after the game is done.

- Ability to have any new shop ideas staffed by receptionists.
See above.

- Ability to offer custom treatments, such as penis and breast enlargement (LULWUT?).
I think that would not be so good for the game.
This would make the game less suited for children I think (yes I know people die in the game, other weird stuff etc.), but penis and breast enlargement does not sound like a good idea to me.
It should be more humorous and non-real diseases in my opinion.

- Ability to speed up or down staff walking pace regardless of level.
Wouldn't it just be better to train them to be consultants?

- Ability to add 25 more staff applications to each category in a click.
That wouldn't be any fun. Anyhow, you can make your own map and set this setting to be whatever you like (you can even edit the current ones).

- Ability to add custom BUILDINGS to ANY map, like a small offsite clinic.
I think this would be hard to do, but I would agree that more scenery items could be added to the game (like trees, fountains etc.).

- Ability to have heated floor tiles, and still be able to control temperature.
I don't like the idea, but if it should be added, it should be after the game is done.
