Training and Happiness
« on: April 17, 2012, 04:45:49 PM »
Running 0.01B ...

I have noticed that when I train a Junior (in training room) their happiness level falls very fast.
I have to keep giving them bonuses  just to get them to a consultant level.

Once the doctor is out and about, they keep getting unhappy.
I am assuming they are mad they are only making $88 when the consultants are getting $250

Is this normal , as I don't remember this issue in the original game
If this is normal, what pay rate is required to make them stop getting unhappy?

I don't remember seeing this in corsix either.
Perhaps the training room is too cold?

It is normal that they want more money when they get a new grade (doctor/consultant).
But if it happens before that, then I guess they are just cold or warm.

In TH an unhappy Doctor may try to resign, in order to receive a pay rise or bonus.  This was the same for juniors in training as they get bored.  I don't remember this being in CTH yet so it is most likely they are cold or too tired.

Make sure the room is warm and near to a staff room.

This was my first thought as well, so I started placing 2, then 3, then 4 radiators in one room and still happening.

I have attached a saved game to show you what is happening.

Watch the Junior (in front row of the training room ) and see his happiness fall really fast ....
The other doctor and consultant seem to be fine ...

Doctors demanding a pay raise after training has been in CorsixTH since the pay raise window was added. It was also in the original game.

Note that you can still save money by training your own doctors since there is a certain acceptance threshold. For example: a qualified doctor with some abilities available for hire might require e.g. 280 while if you train him yourself he may settle with 220.

Just keep an eye on when their happiness starts to drop when being trained and give them a raise yourself. If it gets to the point where they demand it themselves they will require the full amount (280 in the example above).
For the end of the world spell, press Control, Alt, Delete.

I can't really check it too well at work as I only have the demo files here, so will check more tonight.

On the face of it you are right it does seem to be falling too fast, just not sure why at the moment.

I suspect that it is because his salary is really low.  I have tested another level 5 from scratch and a Doctor with phyc skills was on 50% more and his happiness did not fall as fast.  He is also quite skilled and soon becomes a consultant, so he will soon demand more pay.
This is pretty much what happens in TH, although a lot of happiness factors are not yet in CTH, when they are, this may balance things a little more.

I too am finding that after training my doctors they are unhappy. I can have one doctor i hired as a full consultant be happy (even as he is training others) and my trained consultant is unhappy but at the same pay grade and skill level.
