The sounds used were bought from pond5.com, royalty free. I don't know if this is a problem, but I couldn't find many good and free sounds elsewhere. I'm not quite sure what you meant about your quote, though. :s

Royalty-free is a problem.
When you buy sounds, you get a license for yourself, but you don't get a license for others. That means you can use a sound in your own project, but you can't relicense the sound under an open-source license or bundle it in open-source software.

If you can't find a good sound, you can just publish the video without sound. Maybe someone will step up and create a sound or find an open-source sound. If not, perhaps CorsixTH can use the sounds from the original game for now, like it does with graphics.

BTW, are all the objects in your video open-source? Are you complying with their license?

Okay, thanks for the information mirek2.
without sounds: https://dl.dropbox.com/s/xlci1p6t5fsuek2/WINLEVEL.MP4

The video is fine as it's all my own modelling, minus:
- 3 open source game images (http://www.openttd.org http://tuxracer.sourceforge.net http://sintelgame.org)
- Lua logo (http://www.lua.org/images/)
- CTH menu (wolters)
- The window? is that a problem?!?

Thanks,
Joe.

Movie stuff
Great, Joe!
I really like it! :)

Was the sound open source?
Thanks Grimdoc!

I'll start a new post soon about the "information dialogue" (aka the fax machine) to get some opinions on re-creating it. Perhaps using the same room, computer, keyboard, mouse, etc.

Joe.
I just used the quote to show the post was intended for you, and left out the text from the quote, since it would just take up much place, when it wasn't needed. Like the text above now :p

I can't see there being any issues with the window
With openttd they have already granted us permission I believe, we should perhaps approach the other two to see if they are okay with free advertising  :D
Not sure about lua, it should be okay as the game is using that.

Let's see what Edvin/Corsix have to say, they both have a lot more experience on this sort of thing

Oh, I get it.
thx Grmdc! :)

Yes. I've sent all three an email
Jon from Sintel the game said "Please do! [use it in-game]"
For Tux racer, I could only find one email address for them which my email failed to send to. It's quite an old game, so they may not be so contactable anymore.
Ingo (planetmaker) from OpenTTD mentioned their name is spelt without a space. Not a problem, just re-rendered those few hundred pixels again, revised link below. He/she also mentioned how far the project has come, and it was quite impressive!

EDIT: link.
