Maps / Re: Four Corners
« on: May 22, 2016, 01:25:31 PM »
Thank you very much for the reply.

I managed to use the level editor and I included all the diseases. Also if I schedule an earthquakes, random earthquakes won't happen anymore. So I schedule one for 30 months ahead and nothing happens till the month number 30. The problem is that after the scheduled earthquake, random ones start to happen again. My hospital was destroyed in a couple of months, even having a lot of handymans and I'm personally taking care of it. Earthquakes really ruin this game.

Which is the last map of your campaign? In the last map there are also epidemics (contagious diseases)?

The only bad thing about Four Corners is that there are no heliport.

The last map is 'Royal Hospital'. I would imagine so, but since the maps were done before epidemics were implemented, I am unable to say whether or not they work. The CorsixTH project seems fairly dead at the moment, so maybe when it livens up again I will go through each one of my maps and run tests and make amendments. It would be possible to include a heliport in the middle, replacing the central building I suppose. I will do this in the future. :)

I downloaded the map pack and I player Four Corners that seem like a complete map. But not all equipments are there, not all diseases are there. The hairy guy, the aliens etc. The amount of treatments are limited. This is a limitation of the map or the Corsix ?

I refer you to my reply here - http://forums.corsixth.com/index.php/topic,5445.15.html :)

Since I don´t really play the game anymore. Anyone willing to take over maintaining this mappack?

I think CosixTH is great though.. :-)

I wouldn't mind taking it over if no one else has offered.

I liked this map, is the exactly what I wanted to use the map editor for. But I don't understand why not all diseases are there. The hairy guy, the aliens etc. The amount of treatments are limited. Why?

Also its possible to make a version without any earthquakes?

This map is part of an entire scenario I created for CorsixTH three years ago. Given that each map is supposed to get progressively harder, not all diseases and treatments are included - more are encountered later on, most likely the ones you refer to. The earthquake mechanic is not something map editors such as myself can control - it seems to be a standard function of the game that is currently unalterable, but in the future might become optional.

how to replace the Stock maps??

The maps above will be included in a future version of CorsixTH as a 'custom campaign' and so they cannot replace the original campaign maps. Meanwhile, you can download each one individually and play them as single scenarios. :)

Hospital Café / Let's Play Theme Hospital
« on: February 18, 2015, 11:05:00 PM »

For the past few months, I have been uploading a "let's play" of the original Theme Hospital on my YouTube channel. I will post the links below as and when each episode is uploaded. I hope you find it somewhat enjoyable, and I would like to know whether people would be interested in me doing a "let's play" of my own series of custom maps I made for CorsixTH when I have finished the original game. Thanks!

Episode 1 - Toxicity

Episode 2 - Sleepy Hollow

Episode 3 - Largechester

Episode 4 - Frimpton-On-Sea

Rat Shoot 1

Very nice! For some reason, I couldn't get the sound to work even though I tried the standard DOSBox procedures - maybe there was something not quite right with the application itself. Still, very nice that you have a version with working sound! :)

Looking nice.

As you may have noticed by now, the forum is quite deserted, not many people visit here.

The best way to get attention is to make a branch of the graphics repository, and add your sprites to it.
If that fails for you, you may want to opt for adding the graphics itself to an issue in that project.
If that fails for you, you can try posting the files here, and making an issue with a link to the forum post.

As MarkL said, you can try the IRC if you have problems, but people are not always available (or are busy and cannot react immediately), so you may have to wait a while. Depending on your location that may or may not work nicely.

Anyway, I am not a developer for CorsixTH, but I think the first aim is to replace the current sprites, in particular more or less 1-to-1, so you should keep the same number sprites, and same use, as we have now. (Hopefully a real developer can confirm this for you soon.)
That means that if the original sprites have 3 parts for the text-speech bubble, you should also make 3 sprites (I don't know what it uses, so your current solution may be correct.)

Secondly, new sprites will be added in the SDL2 branch, which uses full colour (32bpp RGBA) sprites. Instead of 8bpp images that you have now, you should make 32bpp images. You thus also don't need to limit yourself to the current palette (although if you go for retro-looks, it may be useful to do so). It would be useful if you make everything 'outside' the sprite fully transparent. The rendering code skips the transparent parts, so it displays the background. Partial transparency is also allowed, although I don't know why you'd want to use it.

In all, it looks to me that you on the right path. Afaik nobody else is working on UI graphics, so they will come in handy.

Thanks for the tips. I'll get to it when I have the time. It was really just a "proof of concept" thing, but I will certainly look towards making the adjustments that's you've suggested. :)

If you want to get them into the game the best place to share them is https://github.com/CorsixTH/CorsixTH-Graphics.
They look fine to me, but I am not an expert on such things

I don't exactly know how to use the GitHub site - it's a lot more complicated than the previous one. :/

Graphics / UI Toolbar Graphics
« on: June 15, 2014, 11:43:30 AM »
Hello there. I've recently been working on some sprite graphics for the UI Toolbar and thought that you could implement these into the game at some point in the future. This is just a taster, but let me know if you want me to continue with these so that the whole UI Toolbar can be updated. The attachment contains the icons that pop up from the bottom of the screen to get you to the fax machine, and the adviser's speech bubble. Enjoy! :D

I think what Sam has created already is very good and I enjoy listening to it. I know I'm usually associated with creating custom maps, but I might be able to compose a couple of tracks if you would like me to. To listen to some of my work, please follow the link below. :)

Okay, I did what you said and put different parcels for different buildings like I saw you did on Royal Hospital, except Parcel 3 was the only building that worked. So I went back and made them all Parcel 3, but again, it was the only one that worked. I also went back and made the sidewalk on some parts Parcel 1, thinking maybe that's how you spawned patients. Nope, didn't work. Ugh, this is so frustrating.

I know what the problem is. It happened to me and is a bug with the map editor. You'll have to redraw the areas of the hospital buildings. Usually, you can get away with just redrawing one side and replacing the windows, if you have any. It's time consuming and frustrating, but it's the only way. :(

I built my own dream map, attached it to a level, but it is still not playable. When I first enter the level I can't place anything anywhere for whatever reason. Then it says there is no spawn point, and to place walkable tiles. I went back and placed a cement tile around the whole map's edges and that still didn't work. Idk what to do. :'(

You have to "parcel" the land for you to place anything within the hospital buildings. Try parcelling the area of each hospital building using the parcel tool. This might also fix the spawn/walkable tiles problem too. Try parcelling first and see if that solves all of the problems - sometimes one action leads to two solutions. :)

Maps / ChrizmanTV Custom Campaign Map Pack

ChrizmanTV Custom Campaign Map Pack
This is the ChrizmanTV Custom Campaign Map Pack. Below is the complete list of maps which have been created for this scenario, and all of them are release ready. The links below will take you to the specific pages so that you can download them individually, or alternatively, there is a ZIP file attached to this topic which features all of the map and level files for the scenario. Just simply unzip them and paste them into your CorsixTH level folder. Check back for any new updates to the scenario which will feature fewer level errors and general changes. Enjoy.

It is planned that these twelve levels will comprise the first CorsixTH Custom Campaign which will be shipped with the game, and have been specially granted by myself to be used according to the MIT license.

Firstly, a thank you to anyone who has downloaded all or indeed any one of the maps featured - I appreciate any support, bug reporting or constructive criticism. Please report any bugs (that are related to the level and not the game itself) as soon as possible so that I can rectify the problem.

This is a series of twelve maps that I released between August 2013 and March 2014. Each should be played sequentially in order to emulate the experience of the original levels. These levels have been designed for everyone in mind and will get progressively more challenging the further into the levels you go.

Royal Hospital

CorsixTH Map - Royal Hospital

Firstly, a thank you to anyone who has downloaded this map - I appreciate any support, bug reporting or constructive criticism. Please report any bugs (that are related to the level and not the game itself) as soon as possible so that I can rectify the problem.

Tufflook brings together careful future planning and efficiency in one, large hospital shell. Whilst you have a lot of room within the building, trying to organise where each room type should go is the main challenge. Trying to cope with the two helicopter pads can pay dividends if the Operating Theatres are placed correctly. As usual, level difficulty is increasing, and from now on, at a considerably quickening rate.

This is one in a series of twelve maps I shall be releasing this year. Each should be played sequentially in order to emulate the experience of the original levels. These levels have been designed for everyone in mind and will get progressively more challenging as time goes on.
