An example of what I'm working on. I initially based on the concept of Godus (sure you know who he is: D) and slowly I started to add details. I thought of an idea so that as seen in the image to reduce the size of the game, if not a minimalist design does not would appreciate anything. In'll do a few days of such bodies. You could also add an outline effect or smooth meshes'll post examples if you want to see more like it. The advantage of doing serious 3D animated once that the model would generate all the sprites alone, even several characters with the same animation. Nor if you want to replace the graphics to something more faithful to the original, but I guess the idea is that does not seem to be able to distribute and avoid legal problems, no? a greeting! (excuse my English again)

Hi Evilpooley,
I really like your music -- the background is perfect, but the main melody seems a bit too serious for a game like CorsixTH IMHO. For example, in "Th Funk 1", 1:56-2:13 feels basically perfect, but the added melody in 2:14-2:30 ruins the game-like feel for me.

What do you use for creating the music? Would you mind publishing the source? Also, could you license it under a license that allows modifications (CC-BY-SA, perhaps?), so that people could play with it and refine it down the line?

The sounds used were bought from pond5.com, royalty free. I don't know if this is a problem, but I couldn't find many good and free sounds elsewhere. I'm not quite sure what you meant about your quote, though. :s

Royalty-free is a problem.
When you buy sounds, you get a license for yourself, but you don't get a license for others. That means you can use a sound in your own project, but you can't relicense the sound under an open-source license or bundle it in open-source software.

If you can't find a good sound, you can just publish the video without sound. Maybe someone will step up and create a sound or find an open-source sound. If not, perhaps CorsixTH can use the sounds from the original game for now, like it does with graphics.

BTW, are all the objects in your video open-source? Are you complying with their license?

Hi guys,
If you're old enough to remember Theme Hospital, chances are you also remember the Neverhood -- a claymation point-and-click adventure game. Just like TH, the game has been abandoned by EA with no chance of a comeback.

However, the creators of the game are teaming up to create another adventure game with the same kind of style and heart, Armikrog. And this time, they're not selling the rights to it to anyone. They're running a Kickstarter campaign to get the game made, so if you're a fan of the Neverhood, this might interest you: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1949537745/armikrog .

It seems that it won't be open-source, but it will be cross-platform, DRM-free, and the creators will keep the rights, so it's likely it won't become abandonware.

I've changed a few things with the image, as mentioned below. Do you think the whole thing is a bit to "Apple" overdone? I could change it to a more generic PC if it's an issue.

Yeah, I think a more generic PC screen would be better, along with a generic keyboard.

Changes:
   - Tablet screen changed to Wolter's menu as this will replace the existing one at some point hopefully.
   - Spreadsheet fills computer screen, and looks less professional, more TH.
   - Animation of letter & envelope improved, and background fade to black at the end.
   - CorsixTH logo on the computer screen bezel.
   - CorsixTH logo letterhead darkened, although I think dropbox streaming does something to the colours. Download the file and it'll be how I intended.
   - Sound! There is a paper sound effect, but it needs a "level complete" sort of sound as well. Check out this site for some good ones, of if your up the the challenge, create your own!

What would you think about putting the CorsixTH screen on the computer and the Hospital Budget on the tablet? Given that the boss is the player, CorsixTH should be his focus, while, in game, hospital finances are confined to the lower left corner.
It might make more sense to use a screen from the level board game [1], as that's the screen that the player is going to see next.

Also, the letter could use a torn edge and a stain or two, given its aged appearance.

That's all nitpicking, of course. :) Keep up the good work!

Could you use a different computer screen, though? The iWork doesn't really fit the game-y, non-serious feel of the scene. Perhaps just put the spreadsheet over the whole screen, change the font to Comic Sans and change the colors to feel less professional.
Also, the gray letterhead is very hard to see. Could you make it black?

The icons are great! The pawn in the 2D logo is a bit pixelated, but otherwise I prefer it to the 3D logo (I really like the bright green glow of the 2D version).

I think the green pawn with the stethoscope would make a great high-res icon for CorsixTH. Could you either export a PNG file of the pawn from the profile or just post the Blender file (and I'll try to figure out how to do it myself)?

I was thinking about the annoyance of earthquakes a while back and had this idea of using fire extinguishers to save the machines.

+1, I really, really like this idea. It always bothered me that fire extinguishers were useless.

I like these proposals, but I'm wondering whether maybe it wouldn't be better to have a logo that's a bit more distinct from the Theme Hospital logos, to be safe from legal action.

I think a good symbol for CorsixTH would be the six-pointed game piece from your level board game. It's good symbolism, it's unique to CorsixTH, and it brings Theme Hospital to mind without being too similar to the original copyrighted logo. It also works with various sizes, since you can add/subtract detail and secondary items (like the stethoscope, the briefcase, and the car).

Wow.
Really, really awesome work (it's great to see CorsixTH shaping up so well so quickly).

As per the board game, it looks very professional, yet all the levels look pretty much the same. Could you add a bit more differentiation, like in the original game? Maybe change the orbs up a bit (even a color change would be enough)?
