Research Department / Re: Corsix-TH .. Why not Corsix-TPI?
« on: June 04, 2012, 12:19:02 PM »
I mentioned this before in the "off topic" thread.

I would really like to see bullfrog's 1994 themepark game revived. It is currently a real pain in the backside to get this game to run even when using dosbox.

If you do decide to play this game via dosbox then you must patch out a mouse bug. I will put the instructions below for anyone interested.

You must use a hex editor program to do this I used hex editor neo.

Open the Main.exe file within the hex editor. Search for the byte pattern below and modify the value shown below. (the above file is located in the themepark games directory)

You can patch MAIN.EXE to fix the pointer freeze bug, but the exact offset varies between versions:
Code:
search: 0F 84 4D 05 00 00
modify:       43

Once value is changed you need to save and exit. You can then run the game without a mouse pointer crash.

Enjoy. :)

Seperate map file attached below.

Any feedback is welcome.

Here is a nice size map I have built.

Its still not 100% finished so feedback is welcome. Currently no win criteria for this map. Just add both files to the "levels" folder.

Enjoy.

Research Department / Porters
« on: July 30, 2011, 12:14:33 PM »
I was thinking that it would be cool if we could add porters to the game.

1.The porter would transport patients on a trolley for treatment. (I find it strange that an emergency patient walks from hellicopter pad to be treated.)

2.The porter could also be used to transport dead patients to a morgue if one was created.

3.The porter could transport food to a ward for patients if a cafeteria/staff kitchen was created.

I think this would add more difficaulty to the game if possible to implement. The porter character could be created using the handyman as a foot print with some cosmetic changes. Or the handyman could be renamed and additional tasks added to the character to make him more diverse.

I quiet like this idea.

A good addition could be that certain patients require drugs after being cured. Therefore patients could pick up drugs to take home and this would also add to the game difficaulty.

I was also thinking would it be possible to allow the doctor to use also for certain cures/tratments or have some patients require treatment by a doctor with the assistance of the nurse.

I would like to see the addition of a Opticians.

The doctors could carry out lazer eye surgery.
There could be a patient turn up with bulging eyes and the desease could be called "Fish Eye Syndrome"

Research Department / Training for all staff
« on: March 11, 2011, 02:09:06 AM »
I was thinking that it would be cool if we could add training and skills for all staff and not just doctors. I would like to see something like this.

DOCTOR. (keep the same)
- Surgeon
- Reserch
- Phyco

NURSE
- Medicine (For Pharmacy)
- Blood (For Blood Machine Room)

HANDYMAN
- Maintenance (To be able to fix machines)
could also include a drinks machine break and repair function.

RECEPTIONIST
- Could add a skill to improve functionality within the game!

This above is only an example but I feel this would add a little more to the game and would make better use of the training room. Also why not add additional staff to the game such as "Security Guard" and add distruptive patients or protestors.

Great idea.

This would be awsome for MP mode and you could create chaos for your competitors.

If say there were 4 players on MP and only you had the cure then this would result in a major increase in patients and revenue :D where as the other 3 would take a reputation hit and a loss in patents until they could reserch the cure.

Off Topic / Theme Park
« on: March 11, 2011, 01:52:32 AM »
After comming across the corsix TH website I have been renewed with joy after so many years without any great games to play. Theme hospital was one of my many favorate dos classics and so brings me to ask the following.

My question

Does anyone know if there is a port for windows 7 for the origional (1994 bullfrogs) theme park. If not would Corsix or any other group consider doing it?

Hi all.

Im a newbie here and just wanted to say thankyou to the corsixTH and the community for giving me faith in this game once again. I loved playing this game when it was first released and have had many hours fun playing.

As a 28 year old young man, I miss the good old days of gaming and it has been good to be able to play this game once again. I am currently on level 3 on hard difficaulty and the challenge is definately frustrating but fun.

Once again. Many Many thanks.
