you should just click the save icon, it should work then :)
::sigh::  Yeah, that worked, thanks.  Although now I feel like an idiot.  And I still can't "Save As", but I can work around that.  Thanks!

Emergency Room / MapEdit Not Saving?

I'm trying to edit the Level 4 map ( LEVEL.L4 -- yep, I made a backup copy) to get rid of that annoying pond in the middle of Building 2 -- works great, but when I click either "Save" or "Save As" nothing happens!  I looked around, doesn't seem like anybody else is having this problem -- what could I be doing wrong?   :-[

Picking up patients was a feature in the original, too :)

Was it really? I don't remember that

maybe as a cheat ... I didn't need cheats in the game  ;D

Ah -- I do.   :P

My vote is for staff speed, and finally a fix for patients getting stuck randomly!
Come to think of it, I'd love to be able to pick up patients!   ;D  If that would skew regular gameplay too much, an "enable patient pickup" option in the lovely new Cheat Menu would be fine.

I once had a patient stuck in Research because I snatched the doctor about to autopsy him to drop into Surgery -- not a real problem, but a bit annoying.

"It's not working" is not a really helpful problem report - try to follow this general recipe for problem reports so we can help you better . . .
Sorry 'bout that.  So I tried to reproduce the problem to report it, going via the fax route, and this time the cheat menu came up and everything worked!  I'd like to be able to do it through debug mode too but I don't know how to get in -- all the documentation I've read says lots about what can be done once you get there, but I haven't seen the part that says how.

But anyway, cheats are working -- thanks so much!

I'm sorry to say Cheat Codes, but I was never able to play Theme Hospital without the money cheat.   :-[  I don't insist on it going through the fax machine -- in fact, I'd rather it didn't.  But something that allows for sneaky funds increases would be good.
As this by far wasn't the only request for cheats (many asked on facebook and other places), I implemented cheats today in r1067. Have fun :)
Yay!  Thanks oodles!   ;D
Except it's not working -- help?   :(

Emergency Room / Re: Config Pointing at the Original TH Files?

Which windows version are you using?
Check here where the config file should be located
Vista, thanks for the link.  I hate it when programs put their files off in weird locations -- I know Vista's over-protective of the Program Files directory, that's why I install to the Other Program Files directory!  Don't I remember there's a way to force CorsixTH to look for those files where I want them to be, custom.txt or something like that?
The installer also asks you if you wish to put configuration files in the %APPDATA folder or at the same place as the game is installed. I thought the game gave you a dialog where you could choose a new installation directory if it couldn't find the first one, but I guess it isn't like that...
Only the first time -- after that, the installer uses the answers you gave it last time, even if they're wrong.  On top of that, even though the config file isn't in C:\Users\$(User)\AppData\Roaming\CorsixTH\ (or any of the other locations given at http://code.google.com/p/corsix-th/wiki/ConfigurationFile ) it's getting that info from somewhere, and it's refusing to let me change it.  Frustrating!
Whoops!  Idiocy alert -- the AppData folder was hidden, that's why I couldn't find \AppData\Roaming\CorsixTH\ . :-[  Fixed now -- thanks again for your help!

Emergency Room / Config Pointing at the Original TH Files?
« on: November 23, 2010, 02:34:23 PM »
I just did a fresh install of Beta4 on a new computer, and somehow I put in the wrong location of the original TH files -- I'm getting the "Invalid Theme Hospital install folder specified in config file" dos-box.  I tried to re-install CorsixTH to put in the right location ( C:\Other Program Files\CorsixTH\HOSP ), but it won't ask me again.  The only config file I can find is config_finder.lua -- if that has a filepath in it, right or wrong, I'm not finding it.

Help?

Are we just talking features from the original game?  If not, something I'd really like to see is Central Heating -- or a Heat Cheat.  Something that keeps the inside temp good all year round (y'know, like thermostats do?) without having to plant radiators all over the place.  Shouldn't be that hard, right?  I mean for people who code in something other than SQL.   :-[
