Research Department / Rotation.
« on: August 25, 2013, 02:04:31 PM »
One of the things that has always annoyed me about TH is the fact that it is hard to place some objects behind walls. Yes I know about the invisible walls feature and I think that it is a good idea, but I would like to suggest another idea that may also help.

Rotation.

Look at other games similar to TH, such as TTD, based on the same viewing angles and everything else, they have one major and important (in my mind) advantage over TH when it comes the placement and even viewing of items, rooms, NPC's etc. That advantage is the fact that they can rotate the map, generally by 90 degrees giving them the ability to almost literally see around corners.

Would it be possible to create such a system for CorsixTH?

Research Department / Free the sexes, plus a new class?
« on: August 25, 2013, 01:56:24 PM »
This is more likely to be a cosmetic change than anything. but I would like to see the sexes equalled out in the game.

Let me explain.

Present setup:

Doctors = Male
Nurses = Female
Receptionists = Female
Janitors = Male

this seems almost to be sexist, would it be possible to change that up a little where we have female doctors & janitors and  male nurses and receptionists?

Also I was just thinking about a new "class" of person that could be hired.

Security guard.

Job description:
As a security guard you wander the halls of the hospital helping those who are lost (possibly a random roll of getting them even more lost), stopping crime (graffiti, etc), clearing the hallways for emergencies and looking after the general security of the hospital.

Research Department / Multiple area's & reception desks.
« on: April 27, 2013, 02:30:10 PM »
I have been in hospital a few times in my life. Mostly for broken bones.  Anyway every time I have been to the hospital things have gone like this:

Go to the reception desk, go to the GP, go to the reception desk at x-ray/diagnostics area, go back to reception desk, go to GP, go to reception desk at surgery/casting area to get cast, go home.

So what am I suggesting? I would like to see a setup where you can select an area of the hospital which is dedicated to one thing, and then when the patients go there before they can go to see the doc they have to see the receptionist first.

This would change the traffic flow of the game, and make things a touch more realistic.

Maybe you could also make the patients pay at the receptionist as they l;eave for the services rendered?

Research Department / Avatars
« on: April 26, 2013, 01:38:50 AM »
I am a fan of the game OpenTTD, and one of the 'eye candy' things I like about that particular game is that you can choose and create a company director face. It does nothing but show up when you click on another company's assets.
I was thinking it would be a nice piece of eye candy for CorsixTH as well, may when you finish a level it shows a little image of your avatar either celebrating or crying (depending on if you have won or lost).
Might also come in handy for save games if you have multiple people playing on one game. Thier avatar can be shown next to each game so you can tell who saved what.

Research Department / Map Preview
« on: April 26, 2013, 01:33:27 AM »
At the moment, if you wish to play a single scenario type game, you are given a choice of maps. But it is nothing more than a list of names with no descriptors attached.
This makes looking for a map to play a little frustrating if you are looking for a particular challenge.

Would it therefore be possible to add either a tool tip map description which reads from a section of the map in question, or a little side panel which gives you an image for that scenario (say maybe copy the map so it shows what you start with). Maybe even both?

Research Department / destroyed rooms
« on: December 28, 2012, 11:37:56 PM »
I do not know about other people, but personally I find destroyed rooms to be annoying and an eye sore.

So would there be a way to restore rooms to use or to be removed completely?

I am not talking about rebuilding the contents of the rooms, that would just be silly. But say after an earthquake, once the room has been destroyed you can send a several handymen in to clean up the room. It is not a quick job, and would require a minimum of 2 handy men an approximate time frame of 6 months to prepare the room for use once more.
Even after the room has been restored to a useful state, maybe as well patients could suffer extra health degeneration when using it or something like that.

New members / An Introduction
« on: December 25, 2012, 10:24:00 PM »
Hi all.

I remember plying this game oh so many years ago and completing it many times over. So glad that someone decided to make an Open Source clone of such a great game.

Wish I knew how to code, but I do not. So all i can do is offer suggestions.

May I suggest that you talk to the fine folks over at www.openttd.org

They have created an open source clone of Transport Tycoon deluxe, and may be able to help out with this project? That is of course unless you are already talking to them....
