Is it easy running cheats? I doubt it still works like that fax machine thing in the original game? :P

Emergency Room / GP's offices hanging up
« on: October 03, 2013, 04:08:44 PM »
I'm having big problems with GP's offices for no apparent reasons.

With setups like this the doctors tend to just walk around and you see the patient sitting there. The ques grow, the doctor doesn't leave if he's tired, and you can identify these situations by seeing the thirsty icon on the patients.

I thought at first this might be because the doctors couldn't reach the file cabinet. However, in a big room layout like that, you can clearly see that he can. I can pick him up and place him back, and it will work again for a short or longer period of time.
I've had another office structured similarly to this and only recently did it start bringing about the same problems. It can work fine for 20 patients and then it suddenly stops, or it could happen with the first patient. The "safest" layout seems to be this:

with cabinet, desk and chair on the same side. Maybe it helps seeing the patient talking (from the front).

Yeah, I love plants.

Hospital Café / No emergencies in Croaking?
« on: September 29, 2013, 09:28:51 AM »
I am currently at level 11 - Croaking, and a single emergency has yet to appear. Is this a bug?
I am playing on Windows 7 64-bit, CorsixTH 0.21 DirectX. Emergencies on earlier levels have occured.

Maybe it says this somewhere, but I don't know if it's in a forum thread or something similar (ie. what's still missing in the game).

Damned hair restorers. That's all I'll say.

Edited out the swear word, please remember that it is not only adults that can access this site!

Research Department / Re: Templates for 'finished' rooms

True, but the placement of items within a room usually don't matter that much. I hate feeling the need to organise every friggin' GP's office in a different way. :P

This is something I've been thinking of.

Let's say, when you build a room, for instance GP's office, there would be a template for a finished 5x5 room with the obligatory items and a plant, bin etc. neatly placed. You could create your own room templates and add them to the existing ones.

I'm bad at explaining, hope you got this :D

Good suggestion! I too would like to see something like this.
Nothing ruins my day like seeing a incompetent junior slithering around in an office, not knowing any diagnoses.

Yeah, but you should never build minimum size rooms anyway! ;) (Except for the occasional toilet.)
At least not in the original TH. In Corsix, I haven't seen any staff members expand their skills from having a big room. Hm.

Hospital Café / Re: What's the point of all the diagnosis rooms?

Well, X-Ray get researched pretty early on (in fact, I think it is the first diagnostic machine to be 'discovered'), and Scanner is next in line. It isn't until later you get Blood machine and Ultrascan, but I don't see the point in having them. :)

This might be more relevant to the original Theme Hospital, but oh well.

After a while you get access to the X-ray and Scanner, and then you're done. You don't seem to be needing any other diagnosis rooms. When people die, it's because they haven't been cured fast enough or research on drugs hasn't come far enough yet.

I note that on the most comprehensible guide I've ever seen, only X-Ray and Scanner are used.

Towards the end of a level (Croaking for instance) I set up Blood machine and Ultrascan, and they do get used, but what's the point anyway? Except for getting money? Me wonders.

Research Department / Scroll viewfield by right-click + drag
« on: September 05, 2011, 09:33:01 PM »
I think this should be implemented as standard, as most games have this 'feature'.

In stead of edge-scrolling, you could scroll the viewfield by right-clicking on the mouse and then dragging it around, not having to resort to point the mouse all the way to the edges. By using this function, you can also choose your own scrolling speed, thus accelerating.

What do you think? :)

EDIT: Oh dear, I must be the stupidest person in life! I didn't realise you could scroll using the SCROLL button. :-[
I still think my suggestion has something to it, though. :) By holding down the button and pointing slightly to the right, you go slowly right without it stopping until you let go of the button. If you catch my drift.

Research Department / Re: Blocking off parts of hospital

Yep, fully agree with this, for the exact reasons you mentioned.

That sounds like a nice suggestion, Alberth.

The thing that confuses me about the original Theme Hospital is that you couldn't place bins in the corridors of the hospital, and no matter how many bins you have, even if you have it in every room
