ChrizmanTV Custom Campaign Map Pack
INTRODUCTION
This is the ChrizmanTV Custom Campaign Map Pack. Below is the complete list of maps which have been created for this scenario, and all of them are release ready. The links below will take you to the specific pages so that you can download them individually, or alternatively, there is a ZIP file attached to this topic which features all of the map and level files for the scenario. Just simply unzip them and paste them into your CorsixTH level folder. Check back for any new updates to the scenario which will feature fewer level errors and general changes. Enjoy.

LICENSE
All twelve levels are featured in the first CorsixTH Custom Campaign which is currently shipped with the latest version of the game, and have been specially granted by myself to be used according to the MIT license.

THANKS
Firstly, a thank you to anyone who has downloaded all or indeed any one of the maps featured - I appreciate any support, bug reporting or constructive criticism. Please report any bugs (that are related to the level and not the game itself) as soon as possible so that I can rectify the problem.

SERIES BRIEFING
This is a series of twelve maps that I released between August 2013 and March 2014. Each should be played sequentially in order to emulate the experience of the original levels. These levels have been designed for everyone in mind and will get progressively more challenging the further into the levels you go.

MAP NOTES FROM THE AUTHOR
Tufflook brings together careful future planning and efficiency in one, large hospital shell. Whilst you have a lot of room within the building, trying to organise where each room type should go is the main challenge. Trying to cope with the two helicopter pads can pay dividends if the Operating Theatres are placed correctly. As usual, level difficulty is increasing, and from now on, at a considerably quickening rate.

I couldn't finish this map; it seemed to produce a lot of staff/patient freezes. Not sure why.

Other than that, plot sizes seemed appropriate and challenge was there. It felt overall well done.

Sorry not too much other review since I wasn't able to finish the map. I restarted it twice but kept getting the "Would you like to attempt a recovery?" errors; which made staffing difficult and map cluttered.

Ah well, thanks for trying though. It's a shame that all these bugs still exist, and it seems as though the CorsixTH developers are a little stuck in trying to fix them... :/

Maps / Re: Four Corners
« on: March 06, 2014, 02:00:51 PM »
Definitely challenging in the beginning; had to take a sizeable loan just to (paradoxically) break even until patients started coming in. Couldn't afford Operating Theatre as soon as I would've liked but that would've helped me out...

Anyway, I feel the plots are a bit too big; I really only utilized about 3 1/2 plots of the 9. So either smaller overall plots to push player into expanding or less plots to expand to.

Also, I suffered massive deaths on this map... I think I almost hit 50~ish and that was with 90% Drug, 5% Cure & 5% Diag... I'm thinking the Computer should be unlocked for this map to assist in countering drug deaths (that is, if the player chooses not to focus on Drug research then deaths will be aplenty.) I had 8 Consultant Researchers and still couldn't manage to get all the drugs to 100% fast enough.

Other than the Drug Rate issue, the rate of patients seemed paltry compared to Pukington.

It was a nice change of pace from the rest of your maps but I think there are some areas that could be tuned for difficulty (well, it's all opinion so it's up to you!).

I shall take your advice on board. I'll redesign the map to create smaller plots which are connected via small corridors so that the patients don't have to go outside. I'll add the computer as well. Admittedly, I did think that this map was a little too large when I tested it. :)

That's eerie...

I'm pretty interested about the time period remark... current and future or maybe some Victorian medicine?

Indeed! The four time periods were "Medieval", "Victorian", "20th Century" and "Future". :D

Very interesting.

There are some hints of this in the game now, for instance you can see black bloaty head patients in the animviewer, even though they never appear in game.  That vending machine is also available when you export the anims, but again you can't see it for some reason in the actual game.

Also some hints in the language file, like TV room and other things you never get to see.

What was that odd looking room with the brown floor, looked like a sun lounger in there?

It was just an empty shell of a room, and once you selected the purpose for the room, it would become carpeted and ready for objects. The "sun lounger" is actually a pasting table with a few buckets around it - this symbolised that the room needed to be assigned a purpose. It's interesting to note that the brown floor is actually the floorboards that are not seen in the regular levels and must have been carried forwards without any use to the final version of the game. :)

THEME HOSPITAL 1995 PROMO
Theme Hospital 1995 Promo

In August 2013, I managed to acquire some long lost footage of Theme Hospital. It was of a genuine non-playable demo of the game dating from October 1995. It features one of the very first builds of Theme Hospital and provides rapid hints of the game's content. The clip itself was mute, and so the Atlantis song has been dubbed over.

From the portrayal of the game in this video, it seems as though the game was intentionally darker in tone than it eventually turned out - the final video clip shows a patient with the "King's Syndrome" being manically chased by an army of Grim Reapers! Remarkably, it shows a game that has progressed immensely, even at such an early stage.

Boasting features such as 16,000 animation sequences, 4 time periods and 4 different locations - these features never actually materialised.

A number of major differences are apparent. It is interesting to note that the "Bloaty Head" illness features patients of multiple ethnicities. The women all wear dresses and look a lot different to how they turn out.

Note the incredibly complex room selection screen, featuring six (not four) different categories - "Emergency", "Radiography", "Intensive Care", "Day Clinic", "Research" and "Administration".

The object placement is not in line with the grids in some areas, and wall charts seem to be prevalent on the room walls. The plants and drinks machines look very different too, and the beds in the ward have miniature cabinets by the side of them.

Still, I hope you enjoy the video and experience the same pants-wetting excitement I felt when I first discovered it last year! :D

MAP NOTES FROM THE AUTHOR
Hoppalong is once again fitting in line with increasing winning requirements and the design of the hospital both limits the player and allows for spacious expansion. The trick is to get the northern helipad connected to an Operating Theatre within close range in order to cope with emergencies, but the numerous tight corridors are going to prohibit the player from making the system efficient. Enjoy!

Maps / Re: Upper Pukington
« on: March 01, 2014, 08:35:18 AM »
Good overall level; not too easy and not too difficult.

Honestly, I feel Snuffit Sands was a bit more tricky than this one. I was able to get "three" hospitals going, north, south, and middle being an amalgamation (focused research/training/staff here and expanded north and south with full wings of all diag/cure rooms).

Upper Pukington did have some really high goals which made the level longer but I didn't feel unprepared for much in comparison to Snuffit. If you're able to, perhaps make Upper Pukington have minimal doctor hirings and skills rare (so mostly Juniors and one skill Doctors here and there) and it would prove more challenging for this level.

Other than that, it's been a good ramp up for difficulty. :)

I'll take your advice and swap Snuffit Sands with Upper Pukington. I'll have to add the minimal doctors/skills when it comes to updating the maps. :)

Finally starting to see the jump in difficulty. This map seemed a bit steep in comparison to the rest; especially the tiny, beginning plot. Since the Helipad is near that entrance, I focused Ward/Operating/Pharm/Psych/Infla in the beginning plot and expanded into middle with GPs and Diags.

Used small loans to expand the subwings with research/training/staff and the other GP/staff/toilets.

After caught up a bit financially and started churning out Consult Surg/Psych/Res doctors, I grabbed last wing and built it up as an independent hospital (I was suprisingly able to fit everything except Research/Training into the last available plot).

I'm wondering if this difficulty was a bit too steep for new players; I restarted about three times to optimize my starting layout without wasting too much starting funds. I definitely enjoyed the challenge but if Upper Pukington is easier, I might suggest switching some maps around...

Overall, nice job! Definitely enjoyed the scenery. :)

Thanks! I can confirm that I have played this level when it was in my stages of testing it, and it took around 2/3 years to finish. I too found it quite a jump, but I suppose changing the level order is a possibility.

Maps / Re: Greyham Gardens

A solid ratchet up in difficulty from Writhe. I felt the first plot given was a bit tight on space and starting funds may be a bit low (maybe $5G more?) as I had to expand into one of the first smaller attached plots to place Research/Staff without messing with flow of rest of hospital.

I noticed quite a bit of Surgery patients this time around which gave some issues of keeping people in hospital or sending home.

Overall, a good step-up from Writhe, although I would investigate first plot space/starting funds. Looking at this from a new player perspective, anyway. Might be a good time to introduce new players to loans though...

I'll look into these issues. I think my aim was to force the player into using a loan to finance hospital management, but I suppose I could add a little extra space here and there. :)

Ah, thanks for testing the first three levels. The remaining four which will be released next week will be very long levels, so you might need to spend a larger duration of your time on those. All of these levels will have to be updated to the 2013 editing standard and not the 2010 editing standard, so that things such as the Atom Analyser can be available for the final level etc. :)

Should I play these now to test and have fun or wait for final editions to play and have fun? :D

Feel free to test all of my maps - that way I won't miss anything out when I get to test them. The remaining four maps shall be released next week! Also, if you'd like to submit any improvements, I would greatly appreciate that. :)
