Code name for releases
« on: February 15, 2013, 03:51:45 PM »
Maybe we could give every next release of CorsixTH a kind of code name? Many other software makers are also doing this.

For the next release(s) you could give it this name for example:
-''Cut the line'': They ''cut'' in a hospital in patients (and movies) and ''line,'' because of the new graph dialog.
-Or maybe you could name it as ''reloaded'': Because it's a kind of reloaded version of the original Theme Hospital.

There could be also many more code names. What do you find of this idea?

We would still have to "number" the releases..
Or else we will get: "What was the latest/previous release again? Was it Cut the Cord, or was it Chilly Explosion?"

But we could give the release a name and a version numer. Like XBMC does at the moment (XBMC 12 Frodo.)

I don't see any point in adding a name actually. What are the benefits?

Yes, maybe you're right; but then some people could recognize the version better?

But I think you're right, a code name is maybe not so good idea.

Indeed, people would possibly easier recognize each version, but there aren't as big differences as with for example Android versions, and we don't really support older versions anyway. The newest is always the way to go, and then digits are the easiest to see which one is newest.
